Let's get started! We'll show you how to draw a beautiful Unicorn head in just 6 steps! 👌

Step 1: Draw the Unicorn's head in profile

Start at the top of the nose where the hairline will be and draw a rounded shape on the side. This will give you the Unicorn's nose and jaw. You can draw a simple line, but varying the thickness of the line adds interest to the shape!

Step 2: Draw the fringe of the Unicorn

What we want is a Unicorn with a nice fringe! And to make the drawing even more lively, we're going to draw it in such a way as to suggest movement, as if the Unicorn had her hair in the wind! 💨Quand you will draw the fringe, think of a wave crashing on the beach. Then draw a sweeping movement with small spikes at the end.  

Step 3: Draw the Unicorn's horn

Step 4: Draw the neck and throat of the Unicorn

The back of the neck starts at the fringe and descends in an arc well beyond the jaw. The front of the neck is only a short angular line. 

Step 5: Draw the Unicorn's mane

The mane follows the shape you drew for the neck, but it is bigger and more "swollen". Start with the horn, draw a wave-like ridge as you did for the fringe, then sweep down, ending your pointed arch. Start a second line at the throat and draw a hook shape. This forms a lock of curly hair. Start a third line that connects to the hair strand and sweep down to a point. Then comes back up where the unicorn's shoulder would be. If you draw these lines well, the mane will seem to run down the nape of the unicorn's neck.

Step 6: Draw the Unicorn's eyelashes, eyebrows, nostrils and eyes

Draw an arc downwards to make the closed eye of the Unicorn and short lines for the eyelashes. Draw her eyebrow just above. Next, draw narrow nostrils close together to mimic what they would look like when viewed at an angle. Finally, draw lines along the curve of the hair to give it volume! 

Bonus step: Colour the Unicorn!

Make way for magical colouring! If you want to add accents to your drawing, fill the face, hair and horn with the colour you want and then imagine where the light comes from in the scene. If the light comes from the left as in our drawing, draw extra lines of light colour to imitate the areas where the light is reflected! 😉
